A quick gut guide

On #worldmicrobiomeday we thought we would take a moment to appreciate the 100 trillion microbes that live in your gut.

95 % of our microbiota are found in our GI tract, are you feeding them happy?

Among many things your microbiome plays a key role in your immune system, digestion and absorption of vitamins and minerals and production of neurotransmitters such as Serotonin - your happy hormone!

What we eat and our environment can have a massive effect on our microbiome. Our top tips are:

Eat more plant fibre

Avoid/reduce sugar consumption

Get a good nights sleep and watch your stress levels

Probiotics such as fermented foods - Kefir. Kombucha, Miso, Sourdugh, Sauerkraut, Kimichi and a great source of beneficial bacteria.

Love your microbiome and it will love you back!
