Find what feels good

Why moving your body should focus more on how you FEEL and not how you look

Exercise is considered by all health professionals to be one of the main ways of getting healthy and living a long life. It helps with boosting energy levels, weight loss, mood, bone health and stress reduction, to name just a handful. It’s also essential for a healthy immune system.

Often the thing that spurs people on to exercise is weight gain. As the weight creeps on, it’s very common to start getting into the types of exercise that are very punishing on the body, like running and high intensity interval training (HIIT). What do I mean by ‘punishing’? These very intense forms of exercise stress the body and, if your body is already stressed, it’s just too much

I get it, sometimes it seems like a chore particularly if you're not a natural exerciser (like me!). We have been made to feel like we need to exercise to be or look a certain way. I wholeheartedly believe this shouldn't be and doesn't have to be the case

Exercise can seem like pleasure or it can seem like pain. A human being’s life is essentially one big exercise in avoiding pain and gaining pleasure. If you are trying to do something new and your brain senses that it may result in pain, it will try to get you out of it as quickly as possible.

So let's replace exercise with movement and focus on the positives of moving our body on how we FEEL and not on how we look. Let's release those endorphins, support blood flow and detoxification and shake off our worries while we shake our booty!

If you hate exercise, have to force yourself and put yourself through miserable routines because you feel like you should be doing it, have a think about the following questions:

- When did I stop enjoying moving my body?
- What did you used to enjoy way back when? It doesn't have to be things like the gym. It could be rollerblading, trampolining, dancing in the kitchen etc!
 - What did you like about it?

Now think about 3 ways you COULD get yourself moving...

I have recently bought a rebounder and I am loving it. When I was little, I use to go to trampoline club at school and so wanted to get back into the fun, enjoyable way I use to love moving my body.

What can you do that you enjoy doing and doesn't feel like a chore, it is about nourishment not punishment after all. Its about how you FEEL in your body and we all deserve to feel good.
